The Big Jump From 2nd grade to 3rd grade
With Shad’s new entry into 3rd grade has come a challenge I’m not sure I’m equipped to handle. My straight-A son is now bringing home near failing grades. So, in desperation, I sought comfort from my yoga teacher’s cute little 4th grade daughter who let me know with a certainty that only a 4th grader who has just experienced the 3rd grade life could give, that she too made some bad grades in the beginning of 3rd grade during an adjustment period. But she ended up getting a hundred on her reading portion of the big Texas test that all 3rd graders and up have to take, and pass, in order to move to the next grade. So I will have to hold my breath and wait, and count my blessings that I only have to have one 1st experience with a child in 3rd grade. I know that with the following children I will be far less stressed when they enter 3rd grade. Poor Shad! No wonder he is so high strung!
